Für die Pflanzung sollte ein vollsonniger Standort gewählt werden, wobei der Boden gut durchlässig sein muss, um Staunässe zu vermeiden. Die Steckzwiebeln sollten im Abstand von etwa 10 cm eingesetzt werden, wobei sie maximal 3 cm tief und mit dem Wurzelboden nach unten gepflanzt werden. Die beste Pflanzzeit ist im September und Oktober, sodass die Ernte im kommenden Sommer erfolgen kann. Die Erntezeit ist erreicht, wenn das Laub beginnt, abzunicken und abzutrocknen.
